〜のみならず
Meaning
Indicates that something is not limited to one thing but extends over a wider range. A formal, literary equivalent of 「〜だけでなく」 (not only), adding the latter element to the former to show that the scope or degree expands further.
Examples
- この薬は頭痛のみならず、肩こりにも効く This medicine is effective not only for headaches but also for stiff shoulders.
- 彼は学者としてのみならず、教育者としても優れている He is outstanding not only as a scholar but also as an educator.
